Check out our very own Lorde on the cover of the latest issue of Fashion magazine.
The 17-year-old NZ phenomenon glitters pretty in a Dolce & Gabana long-sleeved dress for Fashion magazine May 2014. Inside she talks about Author Tobias Wolff being once of her biggest influences. She shares on the industry stereotypes, and expresses her thoughts on the youth of today.
On Tobias Wolff being one of her biggest influences:
Author Tobias Wolff is my hero. In terms of creating perfectly formed sentences and paragraphs and paying attention to word selection—Tobias Wolf is awesome. He’s been writing short fiction a long time but I read a collection called The Night In Question that blew me away.
On industry stereotypes:
I’m drawn to women who aren’t painted in history as sweet figures. Patti Smith was prickly. She was frustrated. She didn’t take people’s sh*t. There’s no better music idol for young women, because there is a lot of pressure for us to be really positive all the time. Every photo shoot I do, I get asked for big smiles, and I shouldn’t have to be that way.
On youth today:
I think young people have changed the way we view pop culture…we now have this discerning power. We all have Tumblers, we curate imagery every day. We can sniff out bullsh*t faster.
